In this installment, we feature for Serra player Casey Douglas.

New age determination criteria
defined by Little League Baseball
In April, 2014 the International
Congress approved the new league age determination amendment for Little League
Baseball®. To implement the new amendment, it was decided to include a
three-year waiting period to execute the change, starting in 2018. Questions
from the field were raised about the impact the change would have on players
that were currently league age 8 under the traditional system.
Board Positions Open
Help us frame the direction of Serra Little League
by volunteering for a position on the league Board of Directors. There are
several open positions that we desperately need to fill. The Board meets once a
month in the evenings, and only requires a few hours of your time.

to win back-to-back games against Los Gatos Little League, in order to capture
the title. Serra won on a walk-off hit in extra innings for the dramatic

As the 2014 Serra Little League regular season comes to
a close, it is time to begin preparing for post-season activities, commonly
known as Exhibition and All Stars! All Serra Little League players who have
played in more than 60% of the regular season games are eligible to be selected

honor, but also comes with some significant responsibilities and expectations
for both the players and their families. The processes for forming these teams
are beginning. Please refer to the Serra website for more information about
Note from the President of Serra LL
Hi members of Serra LL, in the last
two weeks I have been visiting many of our games at Serra park. During these
visits, I have been asked similar questions related to sportsmanship and what
is the official Serra "policy" is with regard to how we conduct ourselves as
coaches, parents and players. As we conclude our regular season, and begin the
post-season teams, this is a great opportunity to reinforce the standards and
culture of Serra around sportsmanship.

Registration Advisory: New School
A new modification to the Little League's
residency rule for 2014 has just been released from Little League
International. The rule in brief reads: 'A player may qualify for residency of
a league if, the player attends a school within the league boundaries.' Or
worded slightly differently: 'Player A that live within League B boundaries and
attends school within League C boundaries has the option of playing baseball
within either League B or C without penalty.' Example: If player A lives
outside the boundaries of Serra but attends school that's address is within
Serra's boundaries (like Cupertino Middle School or West Valley Elm School),
player A qualifies as a "resident" of Serra and may play baseball with Serra
without penalty. Proof of participation with a school may be a report card,
progress report or admissions letter.
New intermediate level division (13 year olds)
League is planning to start up an Intermediate Division (playing on a 50/70
diamond) for 13 year olds only. This is contingent upon having the Cupertino 1
field modified to be used as a 70 ft. diamond as well as enough players
registering to play, and having a volunteer to manage the team. This is in
addition to the Juniors Division which is for 13 and 14 year olds. If you have
questions regarding either the Intermediate Division or the Juniors Division,
